Origins is part of the Estee Lauder family. It was created by William P Lauder and was launched in 1990 with its first product, Clear Improvement Active Charcoal Mask, which is still an international bestseller today. Following the success of the mask, Origins began to open stores in 1991, starting with one in Harvard Square, Cambridge, Massachusetts.

However, the Origins success story clearly wasn’t limited to the US, as products reached the department stores of European hotspots such as Denmark and Germany. The brand opened a section in London's Harrods in 1995, which allowed the brand to help rejuvenate the skin of men and women everywhere.

Spreading to new markets in New Zealand and South Korea, Origins decided that it was time to expand its product line. In 2005, it collaborated with wellness expert Dr Andrew Weil, and together they have been unstoppable in creating cult classic, organic skincare solutions. Many of these are still fan favourites today, such as the Mega-Mushroom Relief & Resilience Soothing Treatment Lotion, which strengthens sensitive skin.
