A Morning Smoothie Bowl Recipe

A smoothie bowl is one of the healthiest, and let's face it, exciting ways to start the day.

Scrolling through Instagram in the mornings, and seeing someone's jewelled-bowl of goodness next to your buttered toast can certainly up some jealousy. So, if you don't have the time during the week to make a smoothie bowl, take a little extra "you-time" at the weekends, and whip up something healthy, and oh-so-delicious.

How to make a Strawberry Smoothie Bowl

  1. Put 100g of strawberries into a blender, with 20g of Greek Yoghurt, and blend till smooth.
  2. Add a little honey and vanilla essence, and mix.
  3. Pour into a bowl.
  4. Top with sliced apple, blueberries, pumpkin seeds, chia seeds and toasted almonds, or any topping of your choice.
  5. Enjoy!

There is a lot of hype around whether smoothies and smoothie bowls are good for you due to their high sugar content. However, because the sugar is coming from natural sources, it's a lot better than the sugar you would get from a pastry.

Smoothie bowls are also balanced out with other ingredients, which help to stabilise the sugar content and balance out the high levels. Choose calcium-rich products to keep the bowl balanced, and add high protein toppings such as seeds and nuts too.
