Build the perfect at-home spa routine for the new year
For many of us, the new year is an opportunity to set ourselves some goals, build new habits and discover ways to feel happier and healthier every day. Life is busy and full-on, making it difficult to find time for ourselves and to truly listen to what our mind and body need.
That’s why Bronwyn Wilkinson, international trainer at ESPA, has shared her top tips and best practices for creating the perfect at-home spa routine for the new year, that’s both effective and manageable. Make 2025 the year when you prioritise your wellbeing, with the help of Bronwyn’s expert advice.
What is your wellness mantra for 2025?
I’ve decided 2025 is for self-growth and having a true understanding of wellness. I see so much confusion in the wellbeing industry and as an expert, I want to make it easy and manageable. ESPA stands for ‘Education in spa’ and that is the true heart of the brand: to educate and make wellbeing achievable, realistic and most importantly, fun and enjoyable.
Are there any changes you recommend people make to their self-care routines going into 2025?
I feel like we are all on a mission to be younger, and trust me, I get it, as it can be terrifying to see fine lines appear and grey hairs creep in. True change can’t happen overnight, and if it does, it isn’t maintainable. The true goal is to educate the skin and body to work at its optimal level naturally, enhancing all the incredible functions our body performs every day. Additionally, avoiding stress is crucial, as it can be the biggest cause of ageing. When stressed, you're constantly releasing cortisol, which triggers adrenaline, meaning your body is continually overworking, like being chained to a treadmill that is running and not being able to get off.
What are your top tips for building an effective yet manageable self-care routine?
Find your version of happiness. Everyone is different, and the sooner we stop trying to achieve what others do, the sooner we’ll understand what works for us. I’m a firm believer that less is more. Our bodies are so clever that if we stop for a moment and take time to understand what our body needs, we can save so much time in the long run. As an expert, everyone always thinks I have a 20-step skincare routine—well, I can assure you that I do not. I tried it; my skin hated it, and I soon realised an easy cleanse, tone, and moisturise (face oil is my new favourite way to moisturise) worked wonders for me.

From a young age I’ve been immersed in the beauty industry, getting my first job at a skin clinic and staying there for almost 5 years. My love for skincare was born from the constant exposure to new French pharma skincare products, award-winning supplements and revolutionary techniques to snatch your face. My go-to look is a dewy, natural base using a tinted moisturiser, enhanced by a colourful eyeliner. The Garnier SPF50+ Face Fluid and YSL Touche Éclat Blur Primer are my holy grails.
