I started using this product alongside Aveda Scalp Benefits shampoo. My scalp is normal, but sensitive and prone to dandruff. I use this product about once/month for a deep cleanse. It contains menthol, so it has a tingly cooling sensation that I find rather pleasant. Like all Aveda products, it has a strong herbal medicine scent. I like it very much, but it might not be for everyone.

Excellent For Dry Scalp - Might Help Hair Growth
I have a rather dry scalp that tends to flake up and gets itchy, so I decided to try this cleanser to clear out the dead skin from the follicles and sooth the itching, and I think it's absolutely wonderful. It has a lovely, cooling sensation that isn't tingly and lathers up nicely on the scalp and completely removed all the flakes after just one round of use followed by shampoo. Since my scalp doesn't flake up instantly but rather over a few days, I only feel the need to use this cleanser once a week. My scalp is far more balanced and moisturized now (I use this cleanser in conjunction with the Pramasana Protective Scalp Concentrate) and rarely gets itchy anymore. This next part might be a coincidence, but since I've started using this cleanser, I feel as though my hair has been growing faster. My roots typically grew in about half an inch a month so I'd get them touched up at the salon every two months or so, but now, they're coming in at about an inch a month instead. I feel as though clearing out the follicles has been accelerating the rate of my growth because there are no obstructions preventing the hair from actually coming through. Like I said, it could be a coincidence, but I'm convinced that this is the case. Overall, it's been a boon finding a scalp cleansing agent without having to use a clarifying shampoo too often, as my hair doesn't respond well to those if I use them frequently. Will definitely be buying again and again!

Product doesn't have a nice consistency - foams up on my scalp but found no posistive change after a few weeks. Bought with the aveda brush which is also a let down. Have gone back to using Kiehls magic elixir and my fingertips!
