How did the idea of starting your own business come to you?

I worked for Yves Saint Laurent for 15 years as his International Makeup Designer and Creative and Marketing Director. He was a huge inspiration and taught me that you should never be afraid to experiment and take risks. When he retired, I knew that I couldn’t work for anyone else and wanted to create my own brand based around the concept of ‘haute couleur’ or bespoke beauty, which was inspired by Saint Laurent’s couture fashion.

What are the 3 words that describe By Terry?

Quality, Luxury and Innovation.

Do you have a favourite product?

How can I answer, I love all my products! Every time I create a new product it becomes my favourite. But if I had to choose one, it would be the iconic <a href="https://www.lookfantastic.com/by-terry-baume-de-rose-10g/11722239.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">BAUME DE ROSE lip balm</a>. It is very personal to me because it was inspired by my love for roses, which stems from my childhood when my mother and grandmother would pour rose water into my bath.

Do you have any exciting product developments in the pipeline?

Yes several! We have one product launch this fall which I am so excited about. It is a new addition to our Expert range, which launched in 2015. While I cannot say too much, I can say that it is an amazing product and I predict it will become the new beauty must-have for BY TERRY women!

What is the one most important mantra you live by?

My mantra is creation, vision and innovation. I have always attempted to instil these three philosophies into my brand and the products I create because I believe they are key to a successful brand.

Describe your morning makeup routine.

For me, I like to keep my makeup quite minimal during the day. The <a href="https://www.lookfantastic.com/by-terry-terrybly-densiliss-primer-30ml/11307250.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">DENSILISS primer </a>and foundation give my complexion an impeccable, flawless finish. I always wear mascara and love our new <a href="https://www.lookfantastic.com/by-terry-lash-expert-twist-brush-mascara-black/11688945.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">LASH-EXPERT TWIST BRUSH</a>; I like to use the elongated brush for a more natural result in the day. What is the best multi-tasking product from your brand?

Since I launched BY TERRY, I have always strived to create multi-purpose products which suit the needs of modern, busy women and this is what the brand has become known for today. We have several amazing multi-tasking products, but my favourite would have to be the <a href="https://www.lookfantastic.com/elysium.search?search=compact-expert+dual+powder&facetFilters=en_brand_content:By+Terry" target="_blank" rel="noopener">COMPACT-EXPERT DUAL POWDER.</a> It can be used as a highlighter, setting powder, a bronzer and I even love to wear it as an eyeshadow. It’s an amazing product. This year we launched our new mascara, <a href="https://www.lookfantastic.com/by-terry-lash-expert-twist-brush-mascara-black/11688945.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">LASH-EXPERT</a>, which was very exciting as it was the first mascara within the Expert range. It is a revolutionary two-in-one product, which creates two amazing lash looks in one twist: infinite length and endless volume!
