The top hair trends to look out for in 2020

New year, new you; with the new year fast approaching and the turn of a new decade comes new hair trends. Purple shampoo and lobs? They’re so 2019. But what’s next? Here’s our list of top hair trends that you’re sure to see in 2020.

Colour Neutralisation

2020 is the year of the brunettes with the rise of Blue Shampoo. Much like how blonde shampoo neutralises the yellow tones in fair hair, Blue Shampoo targets unwanted brassy, orange tones in dark hair. Specifically, for dark hair with highlights or that has been lightened, the blue pigments are absorbed to cancel out unwanted brassy colours that can develop after colouring. Being contrasting colours, the cold blue balances the warm orange for an overall more even hair colour. With colour neutralisation a rising trend, we can’t wait to see more!

Hair Ampoules

With more and more specialised treatments and ingredients on the market it’s sometimes unclear how much product to use or how long for to see the maximum results. 2020 will be the year of application accuracy with hair ampoules becoming a staple on everyone's bathroom shelf. Containing a precise measure of product for each application, an ampoule usually comes in a small cylinder capsule, sold in the exact amount that you need for that specific treatment. As each ampoule stays sealed until use, their freshness and efficacy is preserved for the best possible results, unlike a pot or dispenser that will be effected once the air tight seal is broken on first use.  Ampoules come with instructions on when, where and how to use for the easiest ever at home expert treatments whether that’s for hydration, colour correction or body.

Dry Shampoo

Whether you’re doing it as a moral responsibility or because you can no longer drag yourself out of bed in time to do a full wash and dry following the Christmas celebrations, we will all be leaving a few more days between washes and reaching for the dry shampoo in 2020. With Sustainability a priority world-wide, the beauty industry is becoming more eco-conscious, and saving water is at the top of the list. Not only are hair experts stressing that washing your hair every day is bad for your natural oils, but it’s also bad for the environment. No matter whether you just need a little bit of a refresh or if you’ve come back from a full on sweaty HIIT workout, dry shampoos will be upping their game with bottles that will give you a fresh, grease-free head in seconds.
