What is “yoga skin” and why is it this year’s hottest new skin trend?
Instagram is one of our favourite places to discover new beauty trends. From the latest skincare innovations to fresh ways to apply our favourite products, we always head to the app to stay ahead of the beauty curve.
One of our favourite new trends which is set to be huge in 2019 is "yoga skin". Created and showcased on Instagram by Scottish makeup artists Sara Hill, yoga skin is bascially ultra-dewy, luminous skin which looks like a natural post-Vinyasa glow.

What is "yoga skin"?
Inspired by the K-Beauty "glass skin" trend we fell in love with last year, "yoga skin" is a skincare-makeup hybrid technique which allows you to create a glossy base.
Unlike glass skin however, it is not about polished perfection but instead skin which simply looks as real, radiant and healthy as possible.
It's about beautiful skin, great skincare and embracing the no-makeup makeup vibe - Sara Hill -
Aside from using the perfect products to create your glowy base, Hill suggests drinking lots of water and prepping your skin with your favourite cleanser and moisturiser to achieve the perfect lit-from-within look. We love using the OSKIA Renaissance Cleansing Gel followed by the Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentré for a fresh and dewy finish.
Leave your moisturiser to settle into your skin for five minutes before going on to apply your base.
How do I get "yoga skin"?
All you need to create this on-trend look is a water-based foundation, a skincare facial oil, a strobing liquid and highlighter drops.
1.
Prime your skin with a silicone-free primer such as the Smashbox Photo Finish Primer Water. Simply spritz the hydrating water all over your complexion and allow it to absorb.
2.
Take three or four pumps of your favourite sheer to medium water-based foundation on to the back of your hand. We love using the Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation as it is so lightweight but creates a gorgeous radiant finish on the skin.
3.
Take one drop of your favourite skincare facial oil such as the NUXE Huile Prodigieuse Multi Usage Dry Oil and blend the two together.
4.
Add one drop of a strobing liquid with a creamy consistency to the mixture. Our favourite which Sara Hill also loves is the Kevyn Aucoin The Celestial Skin Liquid Lighting. Infused with nourishing Jojoba, Honey and Bearberry, it leaves a dewy, glossy finish on the skin.
5.
For an extra juicy glow, complete your base mix with a single drop of liquid highlighter such as the Cover FX Custom Enhancer Drops.
6.
Blend all the products together in the palms of your hands and apply directly on to the skin. Although you can use a sponge, Hill recommends applying with your fingers to boost circulation, de-puff the skin and ensure your base is beautifully blended for the most natural finish possible. Build until you achieve your desired coverage.
7.
Add extra coverage to areas which may need it - under the eyes, on blemishes, around the nose - with a liquid concealer such as the NARS Cosmetics Radiant Creamy Concealer. Try and place your concealer on the imperfection only to keep the 'real skin' finish of your base.
Complete your look using cream blushers and bronzers for the ultimate dewy, "yoga skin" look.
