The Do’s and Don’ts of the No-Makeup Makeup Look

If lockdown has taught us anything it’s that in most cases when it comes to beauty less is definitely more! So whether you’re wanting a fresh look for going back to the gym or are simply looking to take a more natural approach to beauty, discover our do’s and don'ts when it comes to nailing a no-makeup makeup look this spring.

Skincare

When doing your skincare routine it’s easy to get carried away applying serums and creams to give yourself the perfect base for application. However, layering multiple skincare products can often make your makeup slide off or even change consistency. To prevent this, we recommend keeping it simple and only use a serum and a moisturiser for your look. The La Roche-Posay Pure Vitamin C10 Serum gives you the perfect glowing base whilst also evening out your skin tone. Pair with the Alya Skin Australian Native Berries Moisturiser for the ultimate dewy visage.

Do- Keep it simple

Don’t - Layer lots of products

Complexion

When it comes to a no-makeup makeup look your complexion is key! We recommend embracing your imperfections and avoid using full coverage foundation. Not only will this create a more natural finish, but it will also give your skin a chance to breathe. Instead, we suggest opting for a tinted moisturiser or a BB cream to let your natural beauty really shine through! The Erborian CC Cream is lightweight and has a consistency of a moisturiser with the sheer coverage of a foundation, making it great to use when you want a natural glow. If you’re after something workout friendly we love the Skin In Motion Ltd Work IT Tinted Moisturiser, specially designed for use when exercising. Watch how brand founder Gia Mills uses it below!

Do- Opt for a lighter, glowing finishDon't - Use full coverage

Eyes

Creating natural eyes can be hard as using black mascaras and eyeliners can often add too much definition and darkness to you look. To prevent this, we recommend reaching for light coloured products instead, the closer colour to your hair type the better! The Eyeko Black Magic: Cocoa Edit Mascara is a great brown mascara to use. Enriched with nourishing Shea Butter and Keratin, it also conditions your lashes from root to tip giving you a softer overall finish. If you’re an avid eyeliner user the Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Eye Pencil in shade Mahogany will add a more natural sweep of definition to your look.

Do- Go for browns and lighter tones

Don’t - Use blacks

Lips

Complete your look with a juicy finish by enhancing your pout. To keep it Au Naturale we recommend staying away from bold colours and matte finishes. Instead reach for nude shades in a glossy or sheer finish. We love the NARS Cosmetics Orgasm Afterglow Lip Balmif you’re after a boost of moisture or the NYX Professional Makeup Butter Gloss if you want a pop of colour and a supple finish.

Do- Go for nudes with a glossy finish

Don’t - Use mattes or bright colours
