Clinique’s cult-favourite makeup remover enriched with Japanese charcoal, the Take The Day Off Balm helps to leave skin feeling clean and refreshed. The lightweight formula sets to work to remove stubborn makeup, sunscreen and impurities, while effectively detoxifying the skin.
Suitable for dry combination to oily skin types, the balm delivers a deep cleanse, helping to decongest the pores and remove pollutants and excess oil. Safflower seed oil, an emollient rich in linoleic acid, nourishes the skin and encourages a touchably soft finish. Transforming from a balm into a silky oil upon application, the balm resists leaving any greasy residue behind.

- Application: Use fingertips to massage cleansing balm over dry skin. Rinse well with warm water. Pat dry.

I have oily/combo/sensitive skin that irritates easily. This is strong enough to melt make up in seconds, including waterproof mascara, whilst being gentle enough to soothe my skin. It does turn oily as you massage into the face but followed with a good facial wash and moisture surge moisturiser, my face stays hydrated (not oily) even when I wake up the next day. Slightly underwhelmed
I’m a big fan of balm cleansers and have tried quite a few but sadly this one isn’t going to make my favourites and I’m unlikely to repurchase. I think what it’s missing for me is that luxe, oily feel as you massage it into the face and that is probably down to the charcoal element. It just kind of slipped between my fingers and across my skin rather than feeling like it was getting into my skin. I must say though my skin was left looking clear, clean and soft so no complaints about the end result…I just didn’t find it very satisfying compared to other balm cleansers I’ve used.

I have used the original balm many times but thought i would try this as on the oily combo side & i like my clay masks etc. i enjoy this so far, has the same feeling of the original but with a darker colour. I have been using the original Clinique Take The Day Off Balm for many years and I feel this one is not as nice. Yes it removes makeup and yes it doesn’t dry the skin out but I honestly haven’t noticed any difference between the two. I do find the charcoal one a bit messier and it gets under your nails.
