Spellbound
I have loved this since it first arrived on the shelves in my late teens. I used to visit the perfume hall before and after work for a spray until I could afford to buy a bottle. I was distraught when it was discontinued in the UK. A couple of years ago I was lucky enough to come across a bottle and I only wish I'd bought the three bottles they had left. I'm 50 in a couple of weeks and this is the longest love affair I've ever had and I'm the most fickle person I know. Some perfumes smell old and out of time after a while but this will keep going forever as a classic for pretty much all ages of women and even adventurous men. The opening note is unmistakably clove. After a few seconds this gives way to the most heavenly fragrance that always transports me to a place that only Spellbound can manage to do. It's in the same vein as Beautiful, which opens up with a burst of tobacco that calms into a strong, heady, well named fragrance. It's not surprising though, Sophia Grojsman is the nose behind both perfumes and many more that I have owned and loved throughout the past three or four decades. Spellbound is in a league of it's own and I was almost in tears when I finally spotted a bottle in a perfume hall after having run out 20 years before. I'm so happy that I've found a new supply in this website!
