Not a nice texture.
A bit of an anticlimax trying this, there's so much hype around the smashbox primers and I really didn't find it made any difference to my pores or shine.

Good Mattifying Primer
I have oily, mature skin with some enlarged pores and this primer did a good job of mattifying without being drying. My oils do eventually break through but that is inevitable. It made a good base for my makeup and minimised my pores.
