The Ordinary’s Retinol Serum 1% in Squalane is a water-free, multi-purpose solution formulated to reduce the appearance of pores, dark spots and fine lines, and improve the overall appearance of skin’s texture.

Enriched with a 1% concentration of the anti-ageing powerhouse retinol, which is a derivative of vitamin A, the lightweight serum delivers visible plumping and firming effects to your skin. Another key antioxidant ingredient, squalane, protects against UV damage and helps to minimise the risk of sun-induced age spots, leaving you with a more even-looking skin tone.

When to Use: After water-based serums but before heavier treatments.
Application: Apply a small amount to the face as part of your evening skincare regimen. Do not use with other retinoid treatments. Avoid unprotected solar exposure. Store in a cool, dry place.
Please note: Retinoids can make the skin more sensitive to UV radiation. Sun protection is particularly important when using retinoids. This product must not be used in conjunction with other retinoids including retinol or retinoic acid. This product is not a treatment for acne. Acne-prone skin may experience a temporary increase in acne during the first few weeks of using any form of retinoid including those used in this formulation.

Hopeful it’ll help!

Too early to tell really, as I think they say results am an take several weeks. There’s virtually no fragrance. It’s a lightweight and easily absorbed product. I bought to use in conjunction with a micro needle roller on a year old ice burn scar on my leg. I thought it would fade on its own, but it hasn’t. So I’m hopeful this will help 🤞🏼 Been using about 3 or 4 days and the optimist in me feels like there is a slight lightening…we’ll see! No dryness or irritation as of yet and I have been using daily.

Don't be put off by the price of this as some people believe if it's cheap it's not that good but this little serum packs a punch, it's consistency is more oil than serum but my face in the morning after using this is so soft and hydrating

Holy grail retinol

I love this retinol! I have used it 3 times a week for a few months and I’ve noticed such an improvement with my skin! If you have sensitive skin like me, you may want to use the lower % and start with once a week and gradually build it up from there. I haven’t tried any other retinols as this one just works so well for my oily/acne prone skin.

Works wonders

I'm 60 and wanted something to smooth my crepey neck and ideally reduce facial lines. Never having tried retinol before, I bought this a few weeks ago to try out as it wasn't expensive. The first night I put it only on my neck, the next morning... I could not believe it, but my neck was already smooth! The horrible crepey look had gone, I was absolutely thrilled! A few weeks on, and now using it on both face and neck, the neck is still good and I'm being patient about imorovements in my facial lines which clearly require a bit more time and effort.

Strong product

This is my first time trying retinol. I’ve got oily skin, and so far, I can only use it once a week because my skin becomes red. I understand this product helps to regenerate new cells and acts as chemical peeling, however, although I do not have sensitive skin or dry skin this product is too strong for me to use daily. I only gave it three stars, because instruction says it should be used daily.

a great retinol serum

The ordinary retinol serum is in my constant evening routine. Normally, I regularly use Tretinoin creams 0.5, which are a little too strong for my neck area. This is where this serum performed well, because in addition to a good proportion of retinol, it has an oily texture that nourishes the skin nicely. I don't need to apply a night cream after it, even though I have dry skin. For beginners, this is a great retinol serum
