Hard to get an even coverage

Used this with a mitt and found it hard to get an even coverage only used it once, I’m scared to try it again with the mess I looked like the first time.

I’ve used this for years and mix it with moisturiser and put it on a tan mit. Gives a strong tan almost instantly and doesn’t have that horrible biscuits smell like others do
